XOM, CVX Close Out Busy Earnings Week

Markets are higher as October’s final trading day begins with S&P Futures (/ES) up +0.90% and Nasdaq futures (/NQ) up +1.49% as traders digest major earnings events and the aftermath of the Fed’s rate cut decision earlier this week.
Amazon (AMZN) is soaring more than +12% after showing surprise cloud revenue in yesterday’s earnings. Meanwhile, Apple (AAPL) is up about +2% after showing positive outlook for its iPhone 17 holiday demand.
Today’s economic data will bring Chicago PMI, while earnings from Exxon (XOM) and Chevron (CVX) will close out the month. Next week, look for earnings from Palantir (PLTR) and On Semiconductor (ON) on Monday.

VIX – The VIX closed at 16.91 yesterday, almost unchanged as volatility remains subdued.
U.S. Dollar (/DX) – The greenback is up +0.07% at about 99.42 on the heels of yesterday’s +0.4% move.
