NVDA Earnings After Bell; Oil Swoons & Gold Rises

U.S. stock futures are modestly higher ahead of the Wall Street open after falling again on Tuesday.
The moves come on the heels of four consecutive days of losses for the benchmark S&P 500 (SPX) and Dow Index ($DJI). Tech weighed on markets yesterday with losses in Nvidia (NVDA), Microsoft (MSFT) and Amazon (AMZN) pressuring the major indices.
Investor focus turns to Nvidia (NVDA) earnings after the close. The chipmakers stock is 7.4% of the S&P 500, 13.7% in the Nasdaq-100 (NDX) and 2.4% in the Dow Index — so its results will have a major impact to the overall market.
Morning Movers
Snapshot (as of 7 AM ET)
Oil (/CL) – Oil prices are down 2.5% near $59 a barrel as an industry report showed higher crude inventories in the United States, reinforcing concerns about oversupply, though price declines were limited by a tighter fuel market because of attacks against Russian oil infrastructure.
Gold (/GC) – Gold prices are up 1.3% near $4115 as investors sought safe-haven assets, with attention turning to the Federal Reserve’s minutes from its most recent meeting and a delayed U.S. jobs report for clues on future rate moves.
Bitcoin (/BTC) – The Crypto Future is down over 1.0% near 91,500 in premarket trading and hit nearly 7-month lows yesterday below 90K before rebounding.
VIX – The CBOE Volatility Index rose 10% on Tuesday and settled at 24.69 as stocks fell.
U.S. Dollar (/DX) – The dollar is 0.2% higher to 99.6.
