Markets Await CPI, Shrug Off Canada Trade News

U.S. stock futures are slightly higher ahead of the Wall Street open ahead of a delayed key inflation print that may dictate how many more times the Federal Reserve cuts rates this year.

Stocks have ignored a statement from President Donald Trump that he was ending trade negotiations with Canada because of an advertisement used by Ontario featuring President Ronald Reagan.

Economists expect the headline CPI for September to come in at a 3.1% annual rate, or 0.2 percentage point higher than the August level.

Investor focus will also be on major earnings next week with Alphabet (GOOGL), Meta (META), Microsoft (MSFT), Amazon (AMZN) and Apple (AAPL) reporting.
