Government Shutdown Hits Day 38

U.S. stock futures are slightly lower in premarket trading as tech weakness are leading to losses for the major averages this week.

The drop in stocks was also pressured by data reflecting job cuts for October hit the highest level for the month in more than two decades, making 2025 the worst year for layoffs since 2009.

The Government shutdown is on day 38, the longest in history, and is also weighing on stocks this week.

The October jobs report that was due today will be delayed and Fedspeak this week highlighted the uncertainty that a lack of data is having on markets.
