AVGO Falls, LULU Rises; A.I. Regulation Plan & INVEST Act in Focus

Equity index futures are mixed in early trading on Friday, with S&P futures (/ES) down -0.15% and Nasdaq futures (/NQ) down -0.54% while Dow (/YM) and Russell (/RTY) futures are both up around 0.2%.
Broadcom (AVGO) slumped -6% after yesterday’s earnings, despite beating on the top and bottom line and issuing strong guidance driven by A.I. demand. Meanwhile, Lululemon (LULU) is up +9% after beating estimates for its own earnings and announcing the departure of its CEO at the end of January.
Political news that could affect markets includes President Trump signing an executive order for an A.I. regulation plan that would limit the power of states, while the House of Representatives passed the INVEST Act which aims to increase access to capital for startups or companies to go public.
Earnings are light until next week with Lennar (LEN) reporting on Tuesday and Micron (MU) on Wednesday.
